Description
Large Coastal-Inspired Terracotta Bowl — “Sea Pictures”
Handcrafted with natural terracotta and layered with coloured slips, “Sea Pictures” is a striking art bowl inspired by the rhythms and reflections of the coast. This original piece features a collage of imagery, text, and translucent glazes that evoke the shifting tides and textures of the shoreline.
It uses fragments of victorian poetry of Roden Noel and Richard Garnett to portray a timeless coastal scene and features Alice Oswald’s ‘Wedding’ (1996).
– intertwining with vintage seaside graphics, weathered typography, and oceanic tones of green and gold.
Each element has been carefully composed to echo the sea’s ebb and flow — its mystery, melancholy, and beauty. Both sculptural and poetic, this bowl invites quiet contemplation and connection to nature’s coastal edge.
- Material: Terracotta with coloured slips and mixed-media transfers
- Finish: Hand-burnished interior with matte and gloss accents
